Jake Paul has joked Tyson Fury has ‘earned the chance’ to fight him after watching his thrilling win over Deontay Wilder.

Fury twice climbed off the canvas to beat Wilder in their trilogy showdown in Las Vegas on Saturday, maintaining his unbeaten record and solidifying his status as one of the best boxers on the planet.

Paul has amassed his own unbeaten record in boxing – albeit against a YouTuber, a former basketball player and two former UFC fighters – but has cheerfully called out the biggest and best names in combat sport for his next challenge.

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Conor McGregor have both been targeted by the 24-year-old who is also in talks to fight Tommy Fury.

But The YouTuber-turned-boxer tweeted: ‘I think Tyson Fury might have finally earned the chance to fight me.’

Fury’s next challenge could be a mandatory title defence against the winner of Dillian Whyte vs Otto Wallin, who meet on 30 October.

But the Manchester fighter isn’t concerned with who is next on his list after declaring himself ‘the greatest heavyweight’ of his era.

‘I can only beat whoever’s in my era and I’ve done that all my life,” Fury said.

‘I can only be the best of my day and I’ve done that. I’m the greatest heavyweight of my era, without a doubt.

‘There’s a long, long line of [great champions] and they go right back to John L Sullivan, Jack Dempsey, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Ken Norton, Joe Frazier, the Klitschko brothers, even the guys from today like Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk and everybody else.

‘They’re all good champions, but without sounding too sharp and clever, I’d place myself right on top of the pile.
