Manchester United fans can expect to see several changes to the starting XI in the coming weeks and it’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer facing the tricky decision on how best to manage the injuries and suspensions.

The Norwegian boss will be keen not to make the same mistake he did last time out as he came in for heavy criticism for starting Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench for their 1-1 draw against Everton.

Solskjaer will also be hoping to avoid any final injury scares in the coming days with his players on international duty ahead of their trip to Leicester on Saturday.

United then host Atalanta in the Champions League on Wednesday before a crunch clash against rivals Liverpool on Sunday, October 24.

Metro.co.uk takes a look at the selection headaches Solskjaer is facing.

1) Maguire and Varane injured

Captain Harry Maguire has already missed United’s last two matches with a calf injury and was left out of selection for England’s World Cup qualifiers.

The match against Leicester is likely to come too soon meaning Victor Lindelof could slot into the back four once again.

Lindelof played alongside Varane against Everton but the Frenchman is now a doubt after he was substituted in the first half of France’s 2-1 win over Spain on Sunday after suffering a groin problem.

Varane returned to Manchester on Monday and will be assessed by United’s medical staff ahead of the weekend.

If the former Real Madrid defender isn’t passed fit, Eric Bailly could be handed his first league minutes of the campaign.

2) Fred and Cavani late returns
