Tyson Fury promoter Frank Warren snubs Anthony Joshua in list of top five heavyweights

Anthony Joshua no longer deserves to be considered among the top five active heavyweights in world boxing, according to Tyson Fury’s co-promoter Frank Warren.

The landscape of the heavyweight division has altered drastically in the wake of the former Olympic champions’ shock defeat at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk last month.

According to his promoter Eddie Hearn, Joshua has triggered a rematch clause and will look to regain his world titles at the earliest opportunity, despite the one-sided nature of his defeat against the former cruiserweight champion.

Fury, meanwhile, cemented his reputation as the undisputed king of his division with a second successive stunning knockout victory over his American rival Deontay Wilder last weekend.

The Gypsy King will now likely take a lengthy break from the sport before deciding on his next opponent, although fellow Brit Dillian Whyte is the WBC’s mandatory challenger.

Regardless of who Fury faces next, Warren believes that Joshua has fallen so far down the pecking order that he is now below the likes of Joe Joyce and Daniel Dubois.

He told BT Sport: ‘I put Tyson No.1, he’s head and shoulders above all of them. He’s a magnificent champion and he would be up there with the greats from all eras, he stands with them.

‘I’ll be a bit biased and we promote Joe Joyce who’s the WBO No.1 and we are also involved with Daniel Dubois who is the No.1 in the WBA.

‘Then you’ve got Usyk, so we saw what he did with Anthony Joshua and then you’ve got Dillian Whyte.
