Cody Rhodes Hails WWE Star as ‘Best Dance Partner’
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has battled some of the best in WWE and wrestling, period, but recently, Rhodes made it known that one current WWE superstar stands among the top opponents he’s ever had. Cody was on the “Flagrant” podcast where he spoke about his career and perennial rival and WWE Raw star Seth Rollins, among other things.
He’s been candid about their intense personal rivalry, saying that Rollins is among the finest opponents he’s ever had.
Rhodes, the “American Nightmare” of the wrestling world, acknowledged the compelling dynamic he shares with Rollins despite their very complicated history. “The first time you hit somebody, you hit each other square in the face, like, ‘Oof.’
Buddy, how are we doing this regularly? When you’re in there with someone as good as him [Rollins], you have the best dancing partner on earth.”. You can feel where they want to go,” Rhodes says. The line speaks volumes of the trust and synchrony expected of them in their high-level, full-collision matches.
Decade-Long Rivalry Rekindled
Their history goes back over a decade to Cody early feuds alongside his brother, Dustin Rhodes-aka Goldust-against Rollins and Roman Reigns. This rivalry reignited in 2022 when he returned to WWE following his stint in AEW, with Rollins stepping up as his first opponent. The two delivered an electrifying trilogy of matches that wowed fans and proved their undeniable ring chemistry.
Despite this past history, Rhodes has shown great respect for the ability and what Rollins brings to WWE as a whole. As recently as this past week, he called Rollins the “MVP” of WrestleMania 40, praising his former opponent’s incredible ability inside the ring.
While both men have been open about the fact their relationship has faced its share of ups and downs, Rhodes’ comments would indicate that perhaps mutual professional respect has formed.
WrestleMania 40 was a complete flip, as Rollins helped Rhodes finish his story on the biggest stage of them all….
