Barnet boss gutted for fans after last-gasp derby defeat

Jerome Okimo and Nicke Kabamba netted either side of a Jack Cook effort to put Bees on top at the break at Grosvenor Vale.

But Cook grabbed his second goal of the game early in the second half and Charlie Barker struck in the eighth minute of stoppage khbrksport to secure all three points for the hosts.

A fourth successive defeat saw Barnet slip to third in the National League table, as Bromley climbed above them, and Brennan told the club website: “Our fans got behind us, different stages of the game we gave them things to sing about, but it just wasn’t our day today.

“I’m gutted for them. I know how much it means.”

Adebola Oluwo headed wide from an early corner and Dale Gorman had a shot blocked on the line before his cross found Okimo to score on 13 minutes.

Cook levelled just two minutes later, but Kabamba restored Barnet’s lead from Jordan Cropper’s pass for his 14th goal of the season.

Stones skipper Cook squared matters for a second khbrksport, with both sides having chances in the final quarter.

Wealdstone’s Max Kretzschmar hit the crossbar, before Barker converted a cross from Ashley Charles to snatch victory.

“I’m really disappointed with the three goals we conceded, they were all from restarts,” added Brennan.

“We had good opportunities to retake the lead at 2-2, their lad has cleared a great one off the line, they’ve headed one off the line as well. We had a good chance at the back post with Ade [Oluwo].

“Their second goal is frustrating because it’s a clear goal kick and he gives a corner and they score from that.

“In a tense game, in a derby the way it is, you need little bits of luck and I think the luck was on their side today.”

The loss completed a miserable November for Brennan’s men, with four successive league defeats following their FA Cup first-round win at Curzon Ashton at the start of the month.
