2025 plans for Goldberg in WWE

The WWE Hall of Famer, Bill Goldberg, has officially confirmed his final match is set to occur in 2025. He made his announcement while appearing on ESPN’s SEC Nation television show on November 2, 2024. Additionally, Paul Levesque, known as Triple H, has also given his confidence in Goldberg when asking for permission to partake in one more match.

The WWE Superstars Bad Blood event, headlined by Goldberg in October of 2024, has resulted in a possible retirement date and an opponent to be speculated. Gunther, who is currently the World Heavyweight Champion, made a shocking appearance during the event taunting him, which caused an immediate reaction. Although security was able to control the situation, it has lead to speculation of Gunther being his opponent for his retirement match.

Potential Opponents for Last Match

There has been a huge debate on social media regarding who he should face in his retirement match, with Gunther being at the center of the meta ever since Bad Blood. It is a known fact that Gunther has a very powerful and dominant fighting style, making it reasonably hard for an elder Goldberg to compete against.

There is also a chance he faces Bron Breakker in his last match, as he is the current Intercontinental Champion of WWE.

Many compare Breakker to a young Goldberg due to Breakker’s explosive power and intensity. Just imagine a match between the two, Call it symbolic passing of the torch to the next generation.

Goldberg last match was back in 2022 at Elimination Chamber where he went head-on with Roman Reigns. Ever since fans have been waiting for him to return to take a proper exit. The hype of him planning to retire in 2025 has maintained the buzz, many consider him to have an exit from the glamour of wrestling that is at par with his legacy.

In his words, “I’ve got a couple of months to get ready,” telling his fans he is ready to bid adieu to the stage and in preparation for him to do so, he needs to commit that last time.
