In the six-yard box

The biggest transfer stories of the day. These are the deals that are happening, or at least on the verge of getting done.

Josef Martinez joins Inter Miami

The former MVP, MLS Cup, MLS golden boot, U.S. Open Cup, and Campeones Cup winner has left Atlanta United after six seasons and is now on an initial one-year deal in Miami. The 29-year-old Venezuela international has had his fitness problems, but could be a game changer for Phil Neville’s side up top.

Bayern to land Yann Sommer

The German champions have needed a new shot stopper since Manuel Neuer injured himself for the remainder of this season. The chosen replacement is the Switzerland international who will now move to Allianz Arena on a deal until the summer of 2025 for upwards of $8.5 million with the potential total over $10 million. The 34-year-old is expected to undergo his medical shortly.

Lucas Ocampos back to Sevilla

The Argentine is back in Spain after spending the first half of the season on loan in the Netherlands which did not work out for neither player nor club. Ocampos, 28, is now back with the club he helped to win the UEFA Europa League in 2019-20 as they gear up for a relegation battle in La Liga. The former Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco man remains under contract until 2024.
