It was merely the beginning of a difficult night for the record German champions, who threw away a two-goal lead in the 95th minute.

Bayern led their rivals 1-0 before Davies was substituted thanks to midfielder Leon Goretzka, who gave the visitors the lead after half an hour, latching onto Jamal Musiala’s pass and steering the ball home from the edge of the box.

Leroy Sane stretched the lead to 2-0 in the 53rd minute, unleashing a fierce shot. Dortmund keeper Alexander Meyer was able to get a hand on the ball but could not  turn it wide.
