Emma Raducanu hasn’t forgotten, shades Judy Murray after Wimbledon

Emma Raducanu has seemingly thrown a subtle shade at Judy Murray as the British tennis star used the same word that Andy Murray’s mother dropped recently after she pulled out of the Wimbledon mixed doubles event.
If you remember well, Raducanu was slated to play mixed doubles with Andy Murray at this past Wimbledon but it didn’t happen after she withdrew from their opening match just hours before the start due to a wrist pain and discomfort. Raducanu’s decision quickly made all the headlines since Murray had been out of all other Wimbledon events and mixed doubles with the 21-year-old was supposed to be his last-ever pro event at The Championships.
“Astonishing news that Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her mixed doubles match with Andy Murray. She’s citing soreness in her right wrist. It means Murray has played his last match at Wimbledon. Oh dear!” presenter Marcus Buckland wrote on X after Raducanu’s mixed doubles withdrawal.
That post drew a reaction from Murray’s mother Judy, who wrote: “Yes, astonishing.”
Judy’s response to the Raducanu decision was quickly picked up by the media and many interpreted it as Murray’s mother calling out the 2021 US Open champion. Shortly after, Judy locked up her X account.
This week, Raducanu is playing in Washington where she started with a three-set win over Elise Mertens. After the match, Raducanu made a carousel Instagram post showing her time in Washington.
In the comment section, Frances Tiafoe – who plays at the tournament – commented: “Mixed…” and also added some laughing emojis. Raducanu responded by just writing the word “astonishing” and adding a laughing emoji to it.
Of course, Washington doesn’t have a mixed doubles event so it is not possible for Tiafoe and Raducanu to play together there.
What Raducanu said at Wimbledon when asked about Judy Murray’s controversial comment?
