Coming off a 5-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Sunday night, the Washington Capitals return to the ice on Wednesday to face a familiar foe — but an opponent they haven’t played in five months.
Washington is set to host the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday, the third and final matchup between the two teams this season. The Capitals last took the ice against Tampa Bay on Nov. 1, a 3-2 Lightning victory. Tampa Bay also won the first meeting between the two clubs in overtime on Oct. 16.
