Barcelona end Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang talks, eye Ousmane Dembele exit

Barcelona’s Deadline Day talks with Arsenal over a loan deal for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have broken down, says The Athletic. Barca could only pay a small portion of the player’s £350,000-a-week salary unless they are able to move on Ousmane Dembele and haven’t been able to reach an agreement.

Aubameyang has fallen out of favour at Arsenal and was spotted in Barcelona on Monday, amid talks over a move, but his future is linked to that of Dembele because of Barca’s precarious financial position.

Dembele, 24, has been part of one of the biggest transfer sagas of this January window and the winger could be available for around €20 million if Barca can find a club to take him.

Sky Sports report that the France international’s representatives are in talks with Paris Saint-Germain, with Foot Mercato adding that a verbal agreement had been reached between the two sides. However, AS says Barca will only sanction a move if forward Angel Di Maria is included in exchange and Le Parisien claims that PSG have now pulled out of the race altogether.

Dembele is out of contract in the summer and his representatives have been desperately seeking a solution for him that would enable him to leave in this window, with Chelsea, Tottenham and Man United previously linked.

15.36 GMT: Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has re-joined Lyon on loan.

Ndombele, 25, was the club’s record signing but hasn’t lived up to expectations and there is an option to sign him permanently for €65m.

15.15 GMT: Tottenham could see some more outgoings as they look to move on Dele Alli, with Everton and Crystal Palace interested in a permanent deal, according to talkSPORT.
