Emma Raducanu and Andy Murray begin their Australian Open campaigns on Tuesday but when are they both playing?

All eyes will be on US Open champion Raducanu as she competes in only her third Grand Slam and her first appearance at the Australian Open.

Preparation for the 19-year-old has been far from ideal after she tested positive for coronavirus shortly before Christmas and her 2022 campaign began in disastrous fashion after falling 6-0, 6-1 to Kazakhstan’s world No 13 Elena Rybakina at the Sydney International.

Raducanu is remaining positive though and is trying to avoid the pressure and expecations that come with being a Grand Slam champion at such a young age.

‘I appreciate all the support I’ve been given and I’m very grateful. It is a journey, I need to learn to be patient and need patience from those watching,’ she said.

‘I need a little bit of space to learn to develop myself and figure out what works. I am just starting out.’

When is Emma Raducanu’s next match?

The British No.1 begins her Australian Open campaign against American Sloane Stephens.

The 2017 US Open champion reached the semi-finals Down Under in 2013 and will pose a tough test for the Brit.

Their match will take place on Tuesday, January 18 and is due to start around 10am GMT.

Murray is a five-time finalist at the Australian Open but has failed to win it during his illustrious career.

Nobody really knows just how well Murray will progress at this year’s tournament given his mixed fortunes since returning to the court after lengthy spells out with injury, but British tennis fans will continue to back him no matter what.
