Former Major champion Bianca Andreescu is back on the winning way! The Canadian played her second match of the season in Madrid and defeated McCartney Kessler 6-2, 6-4 in an hour and 14 minutes. Thus, Bianca notched her first WTA win since October last year.
Andreescu did not compete between October and April. She should have returned in February but experienced another setback. Bianca felt sharp pain in her stomach and underwent surgery to remove her appendix. The Canadian had been working hard on her return.
She suffered a tight loss in Rouen before fixing that in Caja Magica. The former US Open winner controlled the scoreboard against Kessler, performing well on serve and return and celebrating her first WTA win in six months!
