The hockey world lost another legend on Friday when Hall of Famer and five-time Stanley Cup champion Guy Lafleur died at the age of 70 following a battle against cancer that lasted for nearly three years.

Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends and fans for their loss

Lafleur routinely electrified the crowd with his rushes up the ice. He netted 50 or more goals for six straight seasons from 1974-75 to 1979-80 and he easily surpassed 100 points in each of those campaigns. He spent the vast majority of his career as a member of the Montreal Canadiens. Lafleur scored 560 goals and 1,353 points in 1,126 matches.

OTTAWA 2 COLUMBUS 1 (SO)

The Senators have won two consecutive contests, while the Blue Jackets have gone winless in four straight matches.

Filip Gustavsson turned aside 33 shots for his second win of the week and fifth in the NHL this season. He also stopped all three shots he faced in the shootout.

Jack Roslovic was the only player who managed to beat Gustavsson in the contest when he opened the scoring 11:20 into the first period.

Roslovic’s 20th goal of the season was his eighth marker in his past six appearances.

Brady Tkachuk’s 29th goal of the year tied the game at 7:06 of the third period.

Cole Sillinger and Kent Johnson assisted on Roslovic’s power-play tally, while Drake Batherson and Josh Norris had a hand in Tkachuk’s score.

Elvis Merzlikins blocked 25 of 26 shots through regulation and overtime, but he permitted one goal on two attempts from Ottawa in the shootout to take the loss.
