Jim Ross Shares Health Update Following Hip Replacement Surgery

AEW’s veteran commentator, Jim Ross, remains in the fight with his health challenges, but he’s taking some good steps in the process. Recently, on his “Grilling JR” podcast, Ross took some time to update fans on what had been going on regarding his health following cancer surgery on his right hip.
While things have taken a few steps back, his outlook is good as he works toward a complete recovery. “I feel better,” an optimistic update from Ross. “I feel better about traveling; I’m not so hesitant about traveling right now because I’m feeling good.
My hip still bothers me. I wonder how long a hip replacement takes to heal, but it ain’t happened for me yet. But it’s getting better, so I’m doing all I can to keep my presence out there.
Fan Engagement Energizes
I enjoy going out there and meeting with the fans.
It’s great, invigorating, and makes me feel young.” The Hall of Fame broadcaster has been dealing with several health issues over the last few years, which kept him to a more light work schedule. Still, Ross has remained a huge presence in wrestling, most noticeably around AEW events.
His health is better; he’s been more active lately, attending conventions, meet-and-greets, and AEW pay-per-views. These appearances help him connect with many fans, who consider him the voice of their wrestling memories. During his recent engagements, Jim talks about enjoying touching moments with fans showing their deepest appreciation for his work and talking with a family from three generations who grew up listening to him and called him the “voice of their childhood.” Ross was also blunt about his changing perspective on aging and his legacy in business.
“I used to be leery of that and hesitant to engage because me ego told me it made me look old,” said Ross. “I don’t give a s–t anymore. I’m blessed that it’s happening.”
