‘So when was the right moment to disrespect us?’: Romelu Lukaku’s apology for controversial interview doesn’t sit well with all Chelsea fans who suggest he ‘proves he’s sorry’ with his performances on the pitch
Romelu Lukaku’s apology for his controversial Sky Italia interview hasn’t gone down well with some Chelsea supporters.
The club posted a video on their Twitter account showing Lukaku making a grovelling apology to supporters after he said he was not happy under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea and that he would like a return to Inter Milan.
‘To the fans, I’m sorry for the upset that I caused. You guys know the connection that I have with this club since my teenage years so I totally understand you guys being upset,’ said Lukaku.

‘Obviously, it’s up to me now to restore your trust and I’ll do my best to show commitment every day on the training ground and trying to make sure we win games.
‘To the manager I apologised and I said it to my team-mates and the board, because I think it was not the right moment (to do the interview).
‘I want to move forward from this and make sure that we start winning football games and I perform for the best team in the best manner.’
Though some Chelsea fans were happy to push the incident behind them, others weren’t so happy with what he said and how the interview with the club came across.
