Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Roy Keane slammed Timo Werner after Chelsea’s frustrating draw with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
Jorginho gifted Red Devils summer signing Jadon Sancho his first Premier League goal shortly after half-time, but made amends 20 minutes later with an equaliser from the penalty spot.
Germany international Werner flattered to deceive against Michael Carrick’s Manchester United, missing two big chances much to the frustration of former Chelsea striker Hasselbaink and Red Devils legend Keane.
Asked to rate Werner’s performance, Hasselbaink told Sky Sports: ‘Poor, poor.
‘With the ball, without the ball, he was poor today. Normally he is really sharp with his runs but it was poor.
‘At the end of the day, you’re a No. 9, you’re going to be judged on the opportunities you get and what you do with it. It wasn’t good enough.
‘He needs to score those chances. He keeps missing big chances, big opportunities. He needs to put them away.’
Former Manchester United captain Keane added: ‘He’s not even hitting the target with some of these chances.
‘At least make the goalkeeper make a save. For a striker, hit the target, make the keeper work.’
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, meanwhile, insisted he was ‘absolutely happy’ with his team’s performance despite being held to a draw.
‘I am absolutely happy with the performance,’ the German manager said.
‘We dominated from the first minute, we were aggressive and never stopped attacking. Unfortunately we scored two goals, one for each side.’
