Booker T Reflects on First Elimination Chamber Bout

Any time anyone talks about locked-roof and padded music, it’s with an understanding and fond reverence for the giants whose shoulders giant stars are made to stand upon—especially those who first entered into the gladiatorial spectacle known as the Elimination Chamber at WWE’s Survivor Series in 2002.

Booker T’s Chamber Insights

Someone that was there from the beginning and is also a WWE Hall of Famer, one of those six original participants from that first match, recently came on to share his thoughts on the experience during an episode of the “Hall Of Fame” podcast.

“I’ve been a part of so many moments, even going all the way back to The Shockmaster. I’ve been a part of so many moments in this business,” he said, relaying that the Elimination Chamber match stood in a breed apart from other contests in which he was a participant.

While he had competed in many matches, still distinct among the best of the best matches Booker T ever wrestled in; it was hard to replace the fear and innate dangers within the Chamber. He mentioned an episode where RVD hits a Frog Splash from off the top of a pod, and based on that one example, there was a reason for Triple H to have a whopping great ‘R’ rating on his file.

While Booker T himself would never again feature in an Elimination Chamber match, he admitted that the construction has been made even better nowadays. So much safer than it used…
