Ciryl Gane Shocks Alex Pereira at UFC Freedom 250

Ciryl Gane made history at the UFC 250 freedom event by beating Alex Pereira with a vicious 2nd round knockout. He is the official UFC interim heavyweight champion after this win. The Brazilian fighter’s heavyweight debut was a flop and his ambitions to be a 3-division champion are now in jeopardy, but he looks forward to the bright future ahead.
Gane was impressively sharp as soon as the bell rang, he traded swift and violent strikes against Pereira that caused some serious damage. It was in the second round where the French fighter unleashed all he had which dropped his opponent to the canvas, forcing the referee to intervene and call a stoppage. An admirable quality amongst the two gentlemen is mutual respect. Both fighters consoled each other as soon as the fight ended.
Ciryl Gane can seamlessly secure a rematch with Tom Aspinall before the year ends and fulfil his dream of becoming an undisputed champion. He went through a lot because of the eye poke controversy, fair to say that it's now payback time.
On the flip side, Alex Pereira is a lesser threat to all heavyweights now and his continuation in the division will be questioned.
During the octagon interview, the French fighter expressed gratitude for securing a terrific knockout win against a terrific opponent and is very pleased to be part of this historic event.
He called out Tom Aspinall for a September showdown and looks forward to fulfilling the fight in Paris. Jon Jones watched the fight and was impressed to see Gane’s performance but he took the time to remind the audience what he did to the French opponent.
“We worked on it, I’m really proud of myself, really proud of my team. We knew it was possible to do that. We knew, everybody knows I’m a great athlete. I’m really technical but people underestimate me. We will see. Now I just want to say thank you. Next, everybody knows, let’s do that in Paris in September”.
It will be very interesting to see what
