Graeme Souness slams Kurt Zouma and urges West Ham to take huge action

Graeme Souness insists West Ham United should ban Kurt Zouma for the rest of the year, insisting he would not want to share a dressing room with the Frenchman.

Zouma was set to start in this afternoon’s Premier League clash against Leicester City despite widespread condemnation following the emerge of a video in which the defender was filmed dropping, kicking and slapping one of his Bengal cats.

The Frenchman was withdrawn from the side just minutes before kick-off however, with the club explaining Zouma has felt ‘unwell’.

Zouma was fined £250,000 by West Ham but started Tuesday’s win over Watford – less than 24 hours after the video came to light.

But Souness believes the club should have taken more severe action.

‘I have got no sympathy for him’ Souness told Sky Sports.

‘It goes out on social media. The fact that it has gone out on social media suggests to me they [Zouma and his brother Yoan] didn’t think anything was wrong with that behaviour, they thought: ‘Oh people will find this funny. That is wrong on every level.

He continued: ‘They [West Ham] have mismanaged it from day one. For me, I wouldn’t have played him again this year.

‘If I was still a player I would not want to be in the dressing room with him, I would not want him around the place until he shows real remorse.

‘The statements mean nothing, fines mean nothing in this instance.’
