Io Shirai has convinced everyone backstage

During the episode of NXT aired in the night, on the USA Network television screens in America, the final of the tournament dedicated to the female tag teams of the third WWE brand in memory of the Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes was staged.

After seeing the winners of the male phase, WWE also wanted to stage the female version with the final which saw the teams formed on the one hand with Io Shirai and Kay Lee Ray and on the other Wendy Choo and Dakota Kai. Within the match, there were therefore very important athletes of the company’s NXT panorama, with Io Shirai who is a former absolute champion of the brand, Dakota Kai who was instead the first winner of the tournament dedicated to the Hall of Famer along with Raquel Gonzalez and Kay Lee Ray who is instead the former NXT UK Women’s Champion.

The only one who has not yet impressed the public with any major victory was therefore the young Wendy Choo, a novice in the NXT ring. In the end, the match was won by veterans Io Shirai and Kay Lee Ray, who managed to hit Wendy Choo with both their finishers, knocking her down for three seconds which was enough to win the contest.

Io Shirai’s impressive run as NXT Women’s Champion came to an end at the hands of Raquel Gonzalez. TakeOver: Stand & Deliver could have very well been Shirai’s farewell match in NXT.

The same has happened in the last year for Damian Priest, Riddle and Rhea Ripley. After seeing a breathtaking match, which only great performers such as the athletes of the tournament final could put on their feet, the NXT audience was quite surprised when the faces of the contest took the microphone in their hand and decided to challenge Mandy Rose in a match titled in Stand & Deliver, instead of going to challenge the tag team champions of the NXT roster, as has happened so far.
