In a recent media interview, Bjerregaard discussed his results, the struggles he has faced over the years, and moments when he even considered leaving the sport. Lucas has been disappointed with his results at times, leading him to question, “Am I good enough?”
Despite these struggles, Bjerregaard’s moments of wanting to quit had the opposite effect. He began competing without pressure and expectations, which has led to impressive performances.
“There wasn’t much pointing in the direction of any good results. I think I was maybe on the verge of giving up the game a little bit, and I think that’s helped me to just go out there and play a little more carefree and not worry too much about it.”-he said, as quoted by Golf Monthly.
Bjerregaard was disappointed with many aspects of his game, particularly his technique. Confidence was also a major issue, as the Dane felt he no longer believed in himself as he once did. It is clear that in moments of self-doubt, expecting positive results becomes difficult.
“I think my technique has not been good enough and my confidence, true as anything, hasn’t been anywhere near where it was back in my prime.”- he continued.
Lucas Bjerregaard also shared that a severe back injury left him feeling uncertain about his future. He described the period as particularly hard and isolating, where he struggled to find solutions and felt that his efforts were producing diminishing returns.
