Seth Rollins Injury Forces WWE Creative Shift, Says Dave Meltzer

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, several fans were excited about the possibility of a big match between Seth Rollins, CM Punk, and Drew McIntyre following the WWE SummerSlam. Among other ideas, it was suggested that there could be either a triple threat or singles bout involving Rollins and Punk.

However, “WWE Raw” swerved this week when Bronson Reed attacked Seth Rollins in an extraordinarily violent manner. The “Big” star hit him with multiple Tsunamis, which came as quite a shock to everyone watching at home (and live).

In his Wrestling Observer Radio show, Dave Meltzer said that it wasn’t just for the show as he had heard that word backstage that Rollins got hurt, hence why they did the angle. In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer posted an update on Seth Rollins’s health status.

Despite being cleared to wrestle again recently, Rollins is still said to be “banged up” with some lingering “chronic” issues that have prevented him from getting back to 100% yet. That’s why WWE has taken him off TV so he can rest up some more.

There is no word yet on what part of the body is injured, but some people have wondered if it’s related to his recent torn meniscus or another undisclosed injury.

Seth Rollins vs. Reed?

Looking forward now, Meltzer noted If Rollins can make it back by Bash in Berlin on August 31, then he might work with Reed instead of Punk.

This week’s “Raw” saw Punk reignite his feud with McIntyre so it looks like there may be a delay in the highly-anticipated Rollins vs. Punk showdown but there still will be a one-on-one between them down line. However, this isn’t even the only injury-related storyline involving a superstar from this week as according again to Meltzer; Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai getting jumped was worked due her having a legit injury.
