AUGUSTA, Ga. — The most wonderful time of the golf season arrives Thursday as the beauty of April surrounds Augusta National Golf Club. Though the skies may have been a bit darker than usual early in the week — rain has been constant through the first few days with practice rounds being called off Tuesday and Wednesday in the afternoon — there’s no doubt the 2022 Masters is set to be another star-studded affair.
The loaded field taking on Augusta this week features most of the best golfers in the world. Hideki Matsuyama is defending the green jacket, while most others in the field are looking to join him as first-time winners by the time the final round rolls around on Sunday.
While attending the Masters is a dream for many, simply being able to watch golf on the grandest stage of them all is an incredible treat each year, and we here at CBSSports.com are thrilled to bring you wall-to-wall coverage of the Masters throughout this week.
CBS Sports offers extensive, week-long coverage across all its platforms with its traditional 18-hole broadcast coverage beginning with the third round on Saturday and final-round action on Sunday. Jim Nantz, in his 37th consecutive year covering the Masters, serves as host for the 35th time. Three-time Masters champion Sir Nick Faldo, 26 years after his third green jacket win, joins Nantz in the 18th tower as the lead analyst. Nantz and Faldo are joined by CBS Sports’ incredible golf team as detailed below.
Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Cameron Smith and Scottie Scheffler top the oddsboard, according to Caesars Sportsbook, with none of the four having previously claimed a green jacket. The most notable name not in the field, of course, is Phil Mickelson, while Tiger Woods believes he will play with an announcement likely coming Wednesday.
