During the media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan also talked about how WWE might have helped out AEW in landing a major deal down the line instead. Khan also mentioned All Elite Wrestling’s weekly television ratings. Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite drew 502,000 viewers for its lowest-watched show ever On the other hand, WWE NXT did beat AEW’s top weekly show that week and started an intense conversation amongst wrestling fans.
Speaking to Dave Meltzer about Wrestling Observer Radio, Tony Khan agreed that WWE moving forward in securing a new media deal would indirectly be beneficial to AEW. So we just need to keep doing what we do because honestly the numbers we have except for a handful of shows in TV those are fucking numbers people would kill for.
Khan stated: “I know I need to worry about us and working on great shows for AEW, and not ruminating too hard over what the competition [WWE] is doing” I mean, this competition getting out in front on these good media rights deals was a fine thing for us I think in this case.
It is actually very good for us because we have excellent his comps, and these commitments are excellent to get credited…. So that’s one thing. I don’t have all the answers, I’ve done a lot of market research and hire some top analysts, data scientists that do this stuff.
Khan Remains Optimistic
AEW recriminatory rights deal Discovery is nearing its end. Khan, however, is still hopeful he’ll be able to land another big payday with the media outlet. Meanwhile, a massive new partnership will bring WWE RAW to Netflix next year.
AEW Owner & CEO Tony Khan was forced to defend AEW’s TV ratings from some critics. To mark the one-year anniversary of Collision, from a more neutral place he showed his gratitude for everyone who watched and supported by sharing on social media.
A fan on Twitter/X lamented the one-year ratings received by the show, Khan replied by pointing out Collision dominated the UFC. Yes Derek, One year and a shocker…
