St Kilda surge to their best start to an AFL season in 13 YEARS as Jack Higgins kicks five goals on return from concussion to help down the Gold Coast at Marvel Stadium

St Kilda’s hot start to the 2022 season has continued with a dominant third-quarter and a career-best five goals from returning forward Jack Higgins inspiring the Saints to a 13.9 (87) to 9.7 (61) victory over the Gold Coast Suns.

Higgins was enormous against Richmond two weeks ago but missed last week’s win over Hawthorn after his head slammed into the turf in the Tigers match.

Higgins underwent two rounds of brain surgery in 2019 which made his most recent bout of concussion even more scary.

However the small forward returned like he never left, picking up where he left off against Richmond including kicking two goals as part of a five-goal run by St Kilda in the third quarter.

It is St Kilda’s best start to a season since their dominant 2009 campaign where the Saints won 19 in a row before ultimately falling to Geelong in the grand final. It propels the Saints to third on the AFL ladder, pending results in the remaining matches of the round.
