Jannik Sinner has taken a few days to relax with his girlfriend Anna Kalinskaya before starting to prepare for the Paris Olympics, which will start in just a few days. World number 1 is playing the best season of his career, having won his first Slam at the Australian Open and the Miami Masters 1000 (Italian has also won in Rotterdam and Halle).

Physical problems prevented him from showing his best at the French Open and Wimbledon, where he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals and Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals respectively. The Italian has been training in Monte Carlo these days and will be one of the main favorites to win the gold medal on red clay at the French Open.

The 2024 Australian Open champion will play single and double with his compatriot Lorenzo Musetti. The draw ceremony will be held on Thursday 25 July, while the Olympic tournament will start on Saturday 27 July. Jannik has made a huge leap in quality over the past nine months and has shown that he can counter Alcaraz’s dominance. The Spaniard has won the last two Majors, the French Open and Wimbledon, but he has admitted several times that Sinner is his natural nemesis.

Sinner had to postpone his departure

Jannik Sinner has a fever and had to postpone his departure for Paris, according to ANSA. The world number 1 was supposed to fly today, but the flu forced him to revise his plans. The Italian is expected to fly on Thursday, 25 July, the day of the draw ceremony. Jannik hopes to win a medal for his country. The Italian had not participated in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics because of a precise choice of schedule by his former coach Riccardo Piatti. In recent months, Alcaraz and Sinner have become the two great references of the male tour. The two seem to have figured out how to beat the 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic, who is 37 years old.
