Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Joaquin Neimann among notable players to miss the cut at 2022 Travelers Championship

CROMWELL, Conn. — No one who is involved with the Travelers Championship or who goes to TPC River Highlands will deny that the game’s best golfers eat it up every year.

It is less than 6,900 yards in length, and this year after about a half-inch of rain fell on the course Wednesday, so conditions have been soft.

Current leader Xander Schauffele, Kevin Kisner, Patrick Cantlay and other players at the top have looked comfortable most of the week, but as Rory McIlroy proved on the 12th and 15th holes Friday, big numbers can quickly appear on a player’s scorecard if he is not careful.

With 36 holes of the 2022 Travelers Championship now complete, here are some of the well-known golfers who failed to make the cut—which wound up being 2 under (138)—and who will not be playing this weekend.

A three-time winner on the PGA Tour this season, Sam Burns arrived at the Travelers Championship ranked No. 2 on the FedEx Cup point list and No. 9 on the Official World Golf Ranking, but a lackluster performance with his irons and around the greens cost him a chance for a first win in Connecticut.

The three-time major winner, who won the RBC Heritage this season the week after missing the cut at the Masters, was undone by four penalty strokes during his opening-round 75. A Friday 66 was a good bounce back, but the damage from Thursday was too much to overcome.
