Iga Swiatek has learned her projected path to winning the Bad Homburg title in her first grass season of the year. Swiatek, seeded at No 1, will be starting her Bad Homburg against 66th-ranked Tatjana Maria, who made the Wimbledon semifinal last year.

In the Bad Homburg round-of-16, Swiatek is projected to meet world No 95 Claire Liu. In the Bad Homburg quarterfinal, Swiatek is projected to meet No 9 seed Anna Blinkova – the Pole could also face 2021 US Open runner-up Leylah Fernandez.

In the Bad Homburg semifinal, Swiatek is projected to meet fourth-seeded Mayar Sherif. The Bad Homburg final is projected to be between Swiatek and No 2 seed Liudmila Samsonova. Also, it should be noted that Bianca Andreescu and Donna Vekic are also in the bottom part of the draw and could meet Swiatek in the final.

Will Swiatek start her grass season with a positive result?

The grass is the only surface where Swiatek hasn’t had any success as the Pole is 9-6 on the fastest tennis surface since turning pro. After winning the French Open, Swiatek admitted the grass season is a completely challenger for her since it’s the only surface she hasn’t figured.

“Grass-court season is something I haven’t figured out yet. So Wimbledon is always a different challenge to any of the other Slams. But I would say winning Slams, it gives you kind of confidence that you can do it again on one hand, but on the other hand, everybody is watching you, everyone is targeting your back so you feel that a little bit and the pressure is bigger.

It makes it actually more special for players who do it when they are on top because it shows you you can do it and you’re strong enough to do it, so I feel that right now,” Swiatek told Eurosport. It will be interesting to see if Swiatek can claim her first grass title in Bad Homburg.
