Carlos Alcaraz should compete at the home Madrid Masters this week! The 21-year-old felt issues in the Barcelona Open final against Holger Rune, struggling in the second set and receiving a medical timeout in a 7-6, 6-2 loss.
Alcaraz felt the pain in his right abductor muscle, which prevented him from performing at his best. The Spaniard embraced ten matches within 12 days in Monte Carlo and Barcelona. He conquered the title in the Principality but failed to chase his third crown in Barcelona.
Carlos took a couple of days off the court and worked with the physiotherapist on Monday. The 21-year-old will make further checks on Tuesday, hoping for positive news ahead of the home Masters 1000 event.

Alcaraz chased his third Barcelona Open crown against Holger Rune. The Spaniard battled strong in the opener, losing it in the tie break and fading from the court in the second set after feeling physical problems following a couple of demanding exchanges.
Carlos asked for a medical timeout after the fifth game, but it could not help him. He lost the remaining games and settled for the runner-up spot. Holger enjoyed one of his career-best weeks and defeated notable rivals en route to his first ATP title in two years.
Rune and Alcaraz met for the fourth time on the Tour, the first in the final. The Dane took nine points more and survived all the challenges en route to his first ATP 500 crown. Holger saved four of five break points and kept the pressure on the other side.
Carlos played against five break points and suffered three breaks, two in set number two….
