Taylor Fritz said he didn’t deserve to be in the Wimbledon semi-final after losing to Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals. Nadal, 36, was hampered by an abdominal injury during the Wimbledon quarterfinal match but still managed to beat Fritz in five tight sets.

The following day, scan results revealed an abdominal tear and Nadal was forced to withdraw from his Wimbledon semi-final against Nick Kyrgios. Some thought that Nadal should have retired against Fritz instead of ending the match and withdrawing from the tournament the next day.

Fritz was leading a set and Nadal was clearly injured, but the American failed to take advantage of the situation and the Spaniard escaped with a narrow five-set victory.
