Lendl gives Nadal example when asked about Murray’s Wimbledon chances

Coach Ivan Lendl stated that great champions such as Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray can never be underestimated as all of them share one thing in commong – an incredible determination. Nadal, 35, admitted his foot problem got so bad that there was period when he wasn’t even sure whether he would be able to play in Australia.
In the end, Nadal made the decision to travel to Australia and the rest is history. In Australia, Nadal went 11-0 as he claimed back-to-back titles at the Melbourne Summer Set and Australian Open. Lendl, who recently reunited with Murray, was asked if Murray could get back to competing for the biggest titles.
“You are asking this with a straight face after what Rafa [Nadal] has done in Australia,” Lendl said, per Eurosport. “All these guys have incredible determination. They are just like bulldogs and they want to do things because they haven’t been done before.
“If they set their mind to it then they can achieve amazing things. Rafa said he wasn’t even sure he’s going to be able to play again, then he goes and wins the Australian Open so yes, these guys can do it”.
Lendl: Grass is Murray’s best shot at achieving another great result
Murray, a three-time Grand Slam, plans to skip the entire clay season and focus on preparing for the grass season. Murray has had success on grass throughout his career as he is a record five-time Queen’s champion and he also has two Wimbledon titles in his collection.
“I would say grass is probably Andy’s best surface. A lot of the players, it’s their worst surface. That would obviously increase his chances,” Lendl noted. Murray is scheduled to start his grass season in Stuttgart, which kicks off on June 6. It remains to be seen if Lendl can guide Murray to more success.
