Lionel Messi has been left out of Football Observatory’s Ligue 1 Team of the Year after struggling to make an impact at Paris Saint-Germain.
Messi joined the French giants in the summer after leaving Barcelona but has scored just one goal and registered five assists in ten league matches.
The 34-year-old has also been overshadowed by his PSG team-mate Kylian Mbappe and has subsequently been left out of Football Observatory’s best XI.

Neymar – who has been plagued by injuries and struggled to find the back of the net – has also been left out of the Team of the Year for the 2021-22 season so far.
Meanwhile, the likes of Achraf Hakimi – who joined the club in the same transfer window as Messi – claimed a space in the squad, taking the right wingback position.
Presnel Kimpembe and Idrissa Gueye have also impressed over the first half of the season for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and secured a place in the XI.
