Messi joined the French giants in the summer after leaving Barcelona but has scored just one goal and registered five assists in ten league matches.

Neymar – who has been plagued by injuries and struggled to find the back of the net – has also been left out of the Team of the Year for the 2021-22 season so far.

Meanwhile, the likes of Achraf Hakimi – who joined the club in the same transfer window as Messi – claimed a space in the squad, taking the right wingback position.

Presnel Kimpembe and Idrissa Gueye have also impressed over the first half of the season for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and secured a place in the XI.
