LPGA/LET: Coughlin dominates in Scotland

Second career success in three events for American Lauren Coughlin, who won with 273 (69 69 66 69, -15) shots in the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open, the tournament organized in collaboration between the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour and held on the Dundonald Links course (par 72), in Gailes, Scotland.
The world has proposed itself among the favorites of the AIG Women’s Open, the fifth and final women’s Major of the season that will take place next week (August 22-25) on the Old Course of St. Andrews with a prize pool of nine million dollars.

Virginia Elena Carta, 48th with 295 (75 73 72 75, +7), and Alessandra Fanali, fresh from the Paris Olympics, 70th with 149 (75 74, +5) and out at the cut by one shot, took part in the competition. Lauren Coughlin, 31, from Minneapolis (Minnesota), who won the CPKC Women’s Open at the end of July, took the lead in the third round and then beat her opponents with a partial 69 (-3), almost ruining everything with two bogeys at the start, and then brilliantly recovering with five birdies.
She left German Esther Henseleit, second with 277 (-11), silver medalist in Paris, four strokes behind, and Megan Khang and Japanese Ayaka Furue, third with 279 (-9), six strokes behind. In fifth place with 280 (-8) was English Charley Hull and in sixth with 281 (-7) were Australian Gabriela Ruffels and Korean Jin Young Ko.
Lauren Coughlin received a check for $300,000 on a prize pool of $2,000,000. The Ladies European Tour is a professional golf tour for women which was founded in 1978. It is based at Buckinghamshire Golf Club near London in England.
