Maya World Replaces Sareee in Owen Hart Cup and Successfully Advances

We continue AEW Dynamite tonight, as we advance in this Summer Blockbuster edition of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament!

Mercedes Moné will face off against Hazuki in the semifinals of the Owen Hart Foundation Cup next week. After being gone for months and watching this division without her, she’s come back to claim what’s hers.

If it wasn’t clear before, the AEW Women’s World Champion, Thekla, had set her warning loud and clear for the entire STARDOM roster, which includes their CEO, Taro Okada.

Unfortunately, Sareee, who was supposed to be part of the Owen Hart Cup, is out with an injury, and the AEW doctors did not clear her. Earlier today, Sareee was with Tony Khan and said she’s disappointed but hopes to make her way back for another chance in AEW.

Taking her place is Maya World, who will face off in a quarterfinals match against Skye Blue. World was offered some time off due to family matters, but she’s ready to step up to the plate for her younger brother.

The Triangle of Madness said that Blue doesn’t really need their help, and that all of Japan is scared of them. The match gets underway, and it seems that Blue had underestimated World’s offense. Blue finds a way to make a comeback and lands a hard Spinning Neckbreaker onto the entrance ramp.
