Iga Swiatek reacts to Ons Jabeur’s Halloween prank

World No 1 Iga Swiatek admits she gets scared easily after Ons Jabeur pulled a Halloween prank on her at the WTA Finals. While Swiatek was conducting a press conference, Jabeur – dressed up as the grim reaper – came from behind and spooked Swiatek.

Swiatek took Jabeur’s prank lightheartedly and joked it may help her get her adrenaline up for the WTA Finals.
“I get scared easily, it’s not like I was thinking, it was all adrenaline, you know. I realised I’m not that kind of person that’s going to fight back, I’m more of a runner, maybe not on court, but for sure when I get scared.
So thank you Ons for getting my adrenaline up, maybe it’s going to help me for the tournament. I’m not going to do the same, because I’m not that kind of person who is like scaring people, but I really like the other outfits that we had.
There was a koala, there was T-Rex, I would totally be a koala, I would just hug everybody,” Swiatek said on Tennis Channel, per Eurosport.
Swiatek made a winning start at the WTA Finals
On Tuesday, Swiatek played her first group stage match in Fort Worth, Texas.
Swiatek, who is bidding to win her ninth title of the year, didn’t have problems against Daria Kasatkina as she saw off the Russian 6-2 6-3. “I think I started pretty well and that gave me a lot of confidence. But on the other hand you have to be really careful and patient against Dasha.
I wanted to play in a really solid way but put pressure on my opponent. I did that pretty well and I’m happy about it,” Swiatek said after her win. Last year, Kasatkina defeated Swiatek in their first meeting. This season, Swiatek and Kasatkina clashed five times, with the Pole winning each of their five meetings.
