N’Golo Kante and Kai Havertz get fours in L’Equipe’s brutal player ratings, as Toni Kroos is awarded HALF the score of Luka Modric and Antonio Rudiger is named star man in Real Madrid’s extra-time triumph over Chelsea

Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante and Kai Havertz were dealt harsh hands by the famed L’Equipe player ratings after their loss to Real Madrid – while Toni Kroos only managed a 3/10 despite ending up on the winning side over two legs. 

Chelsea were 3-1 down going into the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final but came storming back with goals from Mason Mount, Antonio Rudiger and Timo Werner putting them 10 minutes away from the last four. 

But a superb volley from Madrid substitute Rodrygo sent the game to extra-time and captain Karim Benzema – who was Madrid’s most highly-rated player with 7/10 – headed the crucial goal to send the 13-time European champions through. 

L’Equipe’s ratings gave a harsh hand to the likes of Toni Kroos, N’Golo Kante and Kai Havertz

Havertz only managed a 4/10

Captain on the night Kante also only received a 4 from the French sports publication

Both Havertz and Kante only received 4/10s despite a spirited Chelsea fightback on the night 

Yet among the Chelsea starting XI, the ratings from the French sports publication ranged from 4-8, with centre back Antonio Rudiger voted the best player on the pitch with an 8/10 performance which included a excellent headed goal and inspiring display from the back.
