Spectating Grand Slams can be dangerous
Getting hit by a smash is no pleasure, but at least it’s better than trying to catch the ball and falling down the stairs, just like a fan did at US Open last year.Attempting to catch a tennis ball arriving from the court, a female US Open fan fell on stairs at a match and hit her head.
According to Eurosport, the fan was alright after the fall.
“Ouch. (Twitter reliably informs us that she’s okay!),” Eurosport captioned the video.
During the first week of the 2022 US Open, another fan beat himself up after not catching one of Rafael Nadal’s balls. The moment made the crowd and the commentators laugh. Rafael Nadal’s first-round US Open match was against Australian Rinky Hijikata.
The fan missed the ball. US Open published the video of the moment on social media. “You hate to see it,” US Open’s social media team captioned the video.
