The Premier League weekend gets underway on Friday night at Arsenal host Aston Villa and there are plenty of injuries in the top flight to give managers (both genuine and fantasy) a headache.
A busy week of European football has not helped, with Chelsea coming off particularly badly from their Champions League outing.
Some are ruled out, while others remain in question, but here are the biggest names struggling with injuries ahead of the weekend’s action.
Bukayo Saka
The Arsenal man was hacked down by James McArthur in the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Monday and missed training earlier in the week.
Despite his leg being ‘very sore’ from the incident, the England international returned to training on Thursday and now faces a late fitness test before the visit of Aston Villa on Friday.
‘I am not a betting man and it’s down to the doctors and himself to see how he recovers and how he’s feeling between today and tomorrow,’ Arteta told reporters on Thursday.
‘He’s very important and he’s shown how important he is for the team.’
Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner
Chelsea hammered Malmo 4-0 on Wednesday but it was something of a disaster injury-wise as they lost both their strikers.
Romelu Lukaku damaged an ankle as he was fouled in the penalty area while Timo Werner pulled a hamstring and both are out for ‘some matches.’
‘We have a twist of the ankle for Romelu and muscle injury and hamstring for Timo, so they will be out for some days.’ Blues boss Thomas Tuchel said.
‘It will take a while for both of them, and we will need more examinations to be precise. They will be out for some matches.’
Marcus Rashford
The Manchester United forward suffered a dead leg…
