Scott McTominay says Ralf Rangnick has demanded Manchester United’s players cut out their poor body language since arriving at the club.
United’s players were criticised for downing tools in the final few weeks of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure and even since the German’s arrival at Old Trafford those accusations haven’t gone away.
In the 1-1 draw with Newcastle on Monday, Gary Neville branded United’s stars a ‘bunch of whinge bags’ as he took aim at Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes’ petulance.
United cut that side of their game out in a 3-1 win over Burnley this evening as goalscorer McTominay revealed Rangnick has been on at them to change their attitudes.
‘We are all learning an adapting. We play for Man Utd, we are dominant and we need to get results,’ he said.
‘Body language is one thing and the manager has come in and said he wants to cut that out, so that is final. We have taken it on board.
‘It is the old cliche but we don’t want to look too far ahead,. The next game against Wolves is the most important thing.’
McTominay and Ronaldo both got on the scoresheet, and alongside Ben Mee’s own goal, helped secure the three points for the home side.
United played some of their best football since Rangnick took charge and now sit sixth in the Premier League table.
‘Probably first-half as a team [best display under Rangnick]. We were a bit flat second-half for whatever reason. We need to get that for a full 90 minutes which we haven’t really had this year,’ McTominay added.
‘But we are learning and adapting. The game against Newcastle was difficult and we have to bounce back from that. The manager said we set the record for the most amount of turnovers in the league. We had to…
