Pep Guardiola has claimed that Kevin De Bruyne is ‘back’ after the midfielder scored a spectacular winner for Manchester City against Leicester.
In the build-up to the game Guardiola challenged De Bruyne to return to his best form and he responded by scoring an excellent free-kick just after half time as City prevailed with a 1-0 win to go top of the league.
Guardiola described De Bruyne’s performance at the King Power Stadium as ‘amazing’.

Speaking on BT Sport, Guardiola said: ‘He’s back. He was not playing good last games, today he was amazing. He knows it. He’s a player who needs the dynamic and to be free but it’s difficult with a back five and four players close to the back five. We have an exceptional team, you have to be patient and don’t give away set-pieces. At the end we were playing low rhythm and we suffered.’
Pundit Rio Ferdinand stated that De Bruyne is ‘hands down’ the best midfielder in the Premier League, while he claimed the Belgian relishes producing defining moments.
Ferdinand said: ‘The most chances created and most assists in the league. I think it’s defining moments in games, controlling the rhythm.
‘He’s honed his skill, it’s about making sure he’s in the right position to influence the game and others around…
