Pep Guardiola suggested that Manchester City will continue to monitor Phil Foden’s niggling injuries over the next month.

City are confident that they can select Foden, who will train later today, for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Wolves.

The 21-year-old came off at half-time of Tuesday’s Champions League defeat by RB Leipzig after feeling pain in his ankle.

Foden has been working his way back to fitness after suffering an ankle injury last month. Guardiola claimed the player has had no time to allow the issue to properly heal.

‘When you have an injury in the ankle, with a two-month holiday you can recover,’ Guardiola said. ‘But with games every three days always you have niggles.

‘All the time he has niggles – you have to live with that – but he is getting better.
