Carlo Ancelotti could be set for a new deal at Real Madrid, with higher-ups at the club in a state of happiness and keen for the Italian to continue his good work at the Bernabeu beyond his current deal.

Ancelotti isn’t even halfway through his current contract, which runs out in 2024, but according to Marca there are moves to tie the 63-year-old to an extended deal with the European champions.

The Italian enjoyed a successful season last year, winning the Supercopa de Espana, the LaLiga title and Madrid’s fourteenth Champions League victory when they beat Liverpool in June.

So far this campaign he’s enjoyed an unbeaten start to the season, with four LaLiga wins out of four and an opening group game victory over Celtic in their Champions League defence.

Ancelotti was seen as a stop-gap appointment when he succeeded Zinedine Zidane in June 2021. Joining after a disappointing spell at Everton, he faced a tough job in stepping into the shoes of one of the most successful managers in Madrid’s history.

However, the four-time Champions League winning manager has overseen a transition that has continued Real’s winning ways and harmonised a dressing room full of big international names.
