Robert Whittaker is ‘very close’ to agreeing a fight with Marvin Vettori for UFC 275 on June 11. 

The Australian, who recently lost his rematch with Israel Adesanya on the scorecards, felt rejuvenated by his performance and is clearly intent on getting back into the octagon soon. 

According to Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour, ‘Bobby Knuckles’ is ‘very close’ to confirming that fight, although it ‘isn’t a done deal yet’.

Whittaker has fought a number of fighters in the top 10 and has previously spoken about his preference for fresh meat. 

All signs point to Vettori being the obvious choice and the Italian’s only defeat in his last seven fights came at the hands of Adesanya. 

He bounced back from that with a unanimous decision win over Paulo Costa back in October last year.

Whittaker vs Vettori would not headline the event, which is scheduled for Singapore as Glover Teixeira’s light-heavyweight title defence against Jiri Prochazka sits atop the card.
