Ronda Rousey Credits AEW Star for WWE Match Support

Some may consider Ronda Rousey’s time in WWE controversial, but to Rousey, there’s nothing wrong with being honest in professional wrestling. Recently, while speaking on the ‘Ring the Belle’ podcast, Rousey talked of her challenges when entering the business and praised current AEW star Mercedes Moné for her support during Wrestlemania Royal Rumble in 2019.

Rousey, the martial artist in mixed combat sports, her determination being indomitable, shared with a rare honesty how she tapped into Moné’s experience for their bout. Rousey confessed to have told her, “I don’t know what to do, book this match yourself!

I will do everything as you say!”. This stunt was done when the wrestler went to New York to visit her friend Moné and Red before the bout. With her friend, Moné arranged all the spots for the match and even taught Rousey the Suicide Dive.

Rousey clarified again, “I put all that trust into her, you will book the match and I will work it”.

Unscripted Post-Match Moment

Babyface’s remarks, however, should be put in perspective with the goals the dual-purpose match pursued.

She loved the match and, more especially, the emotions that went with it. One of the most memorable events after the fight was when Moné climbed onto the stage completely out of turn. Rousey remembered it: “Her coming out afterward was an unscripted moment; we didn’t plan that”.

It even pointed out all the concerns most people had about this world and how we defined the stereotypes. Elated and thankful, Rousey came out open and attributed every constructive aspect of the bout to Moné and her friend, who guided her throughout.

“It was important,” Rousey said, taking note of the importance of that episode in her career in WWE.
