Ryan Giggs assault trial: 999 call made after alleged assault is played to the court


Bodycam footage showing Manchester United star Ryan Giggs speaking to police in the aftermath of an alleged headbutt on his former girlfriend Kate Greville has today been played in court.

Jurors were this morning shown footage of the former footballer, 48, inside his £1.7million mansion in Worsley, Manchester, following the alleged incident in November 2020.

They also heard a statement from one of the officers who arrived at the scene following a dramatic 999 call from Ms Greville’s sister Emma, who has also accused Giggs of assaulting her.

The officer said how Giggs ‘had blood around his mouth’ when he arrived at the former Wales midfielder’s property, while Kate Greville was sat on floor of the kitchen and was ‘visibly upset’.

It comes as two dramatic 999 calls made after Giggs’s alleged assault of his ex-partner was today played in court.

Police: ‘What is the offence?’

Emma: ‘Assault. He’s headbutted her.’

*Swearing can be heard in the background and Kate is heard crying

Emma: ‘Can you come quickly?’

Police: ‘Does she need an ambulance?’

Emma: ‘He’s just headbutted in her face.’

*Giggs is heard shouting something inaudible.

Emma: ‘You’ve headbutted my sister. I don’t care. This is your fault.’

*Crying is heard in the background.

Police: ‘What’s he called?’

Emma: ‘Ryan Giggs.’

*Giggs is heard shouting something inaudible 

Emma: ‘It will be on the news, because you’ve just headbutted my sister.

Giggs: ‘She’s a psycho. She’s a psycho’

*Kate can be heard crying in the background

Police: ‘Why is she crying?’

Emma: ‘She’s in pain.’

Police: ‘Why?’

Emma: ‘Because he’s headbutted her.’

Second call 

Police: ‘Police are on their way.’

Police: ‘What’s his name?

Emma: ‘Ryan Giggs. The footballer Ryan Giggs.’

Police: ‘The Ryan Giggs?’

Emma: ‘Yes. Can you come quickly please?’

Police: ‘Police will be there in 50 seconds.’

Jurors this morning listened to the two calls by Emma…
