Ryder Cup, the countdown is -100 days to go

The wait is almost over. The countdown marks -100 days to the start of the Ryder Cup which, for the first time in its nearly century-old history, will be played in Italy, in Rome and on the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club course from 29 September to 1 October.
In the 44th edition of the biennial competition, Team Europe and Team USA will face each other, led respectively by captains Luke Donald and Zach Johnson. The United States will defend the title won in 2021 in Wisconsin and will aim to establish itself overseas 30 years after the last time.
While the Old Continent, which among the vice-captains will also boast the Turinese Edoardo Molinari, will have to redeem the clear defeat of two years ago. For the occasion, around 250,000 spectators are expected in the Eternal City, coming from 85 different nations.
Tickets sold out in a few hours and the amount of requests prompted the Ryder Cup Europe to hold a draw to satisfy as many requests as possible from 140 countries. The Italian Ryder Cup represents a driving force for tourism, not just golf, and for Rome, a candidate to host Expo 2030.
And again: an economic and sporting driving force. Fundamental also from an infrastructural point of view, in the name of the Ryder Cup 2023 Project. There will be 1,200 volunteers who will collaborate in the event. It will only be played for glory, only the cup and the honor of victory will be up for grabs: no prize money.
