WCW was at one time the only wrestling promotion that could beat the WWE. During the Monday Night Wars, WCW was doing quite well. However, a number of bad decisions by the management resulted in the promotion failing miserably.

VICE TV has a docuseries called ‘Who Killed WCW?’. A lot of details were revealed during the series that casual fans may not know about.
These days, all the intellectual properties of WCW belong to the WWE. There is a possibility that WCW will be revived by the WWE on Netflix in 2025. Concerning this, legendary professional wrestler and wrestling promoter, Jeff Jarrett shared his thoughts on his podcast.
According to him, it can be possible. “It could be done,” Jarrett said. “[But] the reality is that we are 23 years removed from the brand being on television. The NWO still sells a boatload of merchandise, but WCW hasn’t sold, to my knowledge, much of anything.
A couple of retro shirts here and there or something to that effect. I just don’t see a tremendous value there. But with that being said, you own the IP, you own the library, and you have the ability to have multiple connective tissue…
so could it work with a focused effort? I think you could hit it out of the park.” Of course, there are a few problems. When ECW was bought by the WWE in 2001, ECW wrestlers started working for the WWE. Shortly after the promotion was bought, the WWE had its version of ECW.
They had a very successful PPV event called One Night Stand that took place in 2006. However, they only did that once. Former ECW wrestlers participated during that event. The problem is, most wrestlers from the WCW Monday Night Wars era are gone.
