Willow Nightingale Opens Up About Injuries and Recovery

CMLL World Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale established herself as one of the major stars of the AEW. Prior to impressing the fans in front of thousands at Wembley Stadium in England, Nightingale has performed on many occasions on “AEW Dark.” However, things could have been different.

Her career might have ended even before it began due to a severe neck injury incurred by the now wrestler in the year of 2019. In a more personal moment during this week’s episode of ‘AEW Close-Up With Renee Paquette,’ Nightingale showed the visible scar on her neck earned after surgery that saved her career.

That scar is one of those scars, and she explained how the scar is more than such a mark but rather a reflection of her strength, which has gone through her arms like a bulwark in her darkest hour. “I am a wrestler at the end,” Nightingale said.

“Potrahn, our physical shortcomings and injuries are part of our history and lore. I never wished to mask it because it was quite a monumental hurdle for me. That was the first point in wrestling when I was like, ‘Do I think this is a good idea? Maybe I should quit.’ This was the point.’”

Family Support Shift

Nightingale further stated that her injury also affected her family.

However, her mother was very loud and clear in opposing her to the injury and asking her to take up an alternative. Eventually, both parents seemed to have come on board when she continued her wrestling career, appreciating the mental seriousness she had towards it.

“Something really really tiny in the recesses of my mind used to tell me, ‘just don’t stop like very much. You are here already, you broke your neck, do something,’” Nightingale said. Nightingale’s story demonstrates how much she wants it and believes in it.

However, thanks to her incredible skill and tenacity, the wrestler continues to conquer the heights of AEW, exciting the fans and professional wrestling with her perseverance and love of the sport.
