Steve Corica’s Sydney FC secured their first A-League win of the season with a come-from-behind victory over Western United.
Both clubs had suffered defeats in their league openers last weekend and Saturday’s clash provided an opportunity for both clubs to get their first points of the campaign.
Former Reading star Adam Le Fondre has been in lethal form since making the move down under in 2018 and looked close to opening the scoring within the first ten minutes, but his powerful header was denied by United goalkeeper Jamie Young.

Last season’s A-League Grand Final winners were quick to take the initiative at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium though, and opened the scoring through Josh Risdon.
Risdon’s well-placed striked appeared to bounce awkwardly in front of the Sydney goal as the ball bounced off the inside of the post to give the visitors the lead after just 16 minutes.
